The Journey

Top? All Saints, thrifted Skirt? Kopa, thrifted Belt? Thrifted Shoes? Coach

As much as I tried to tell myself that this blousy silk/cotton top I thrifted was actually a dress, the breeziness I felt convinced me otherwise. Sometimes you just have to listen to the wind... It was handy that I had a skirt that matched perfectly and so created the illusion of a dress. Tricky, right?
It's a skirt that I haven't worn in a while but I can't seem to get rid of because the three blousy tiers of soft cotton are too much fun to donate. The last time I wore the skirt was a long time ago and I actually rather dislike the outfit now. There is a lot going on... Sometimes I look back through my blog and cringe at some of my fashion choices. I would like to think that as I get older and reach dizzying heights of maturity, my style is getting more streamlined and it is better able to stand up to the test of time. Who knows? I am tempted to purge the old posts that I don't like but I think that even the bad outfits are part of my fashion journey. I am now cringing again because I actually just wrote the words 'fashion journey'...

twins! I can't bring myself to wear this skirt again, I dunno why. Maybe because the pocket is wonky or maybe I think it's too long for me now, or maybe because it's a little big or maybe, just maybe I don't have the right top for it?

I rethought it was address until I checked out the listings. They look great together.

The belt is fantastic and very different.

i went back and looked at how you styled the skirt in 2009. i don't agree with you that the older blog post photos are cringe-worthy! i looooved the way the skirt looks both ways! you are just adorable!

Keep the outfit posts you don't like. Some days I don't like my outfit by the end of the day. My theory is that only people with great style take risks and wear what they like. I would be so easy to pull open a look book from my favorite store and dress like a mannequin but where is the fun in that?

you had me fooled - I definitely thought this was a dress! In any case, I absolutely love this skirt and wouldn't be able to purge it either.

I definitely thought "dress," and also assumed AllSaints. One out of two ain't bad!

Don't give away the skirt! It's soooo good. Or if you do decide to purge, just give it to me.
I love love this whole look.

I could have sworn this was a dress until you wrote otherwise. I think our fashion vision is always 20/20 in hindsight. I saw a picture of myself taken yesterday and even cringed at my outfit decision. O well- I felt good at the time!

That skirt is so unique. I would def have a hard time getting rid of it as well. Don't ever take your old outfit photos down! I love going back through mine and laughing at some of the things I thought looked good, but it is a great example of how fashion and your own style changes!
