Trench? Mackage, Winners
Pleated dress? thrifted
Shoes? Dumond, used a gift certificate
Belt? Roots, thrifted
Purse? thrifted
Bangle? thrifted

When I saw this printed purse from afar at the 50% off sale at the Salvation Army in Winnipeg (I told you I scored and my luggage came back twice as heavy...), I thought it was a 90's Liz Claiborne bag or something. I coveted it, so I pushed aside two ladies, a child and my friend, snatched the purse from the rack and upon closer inspection, discovered it's a couple decades older than I first thought. I love that; the purse has a modern vibe but it is most definitely vintage. It's in great condition too, it has a little nick in the cow hide but other than that it's a pretty piece of arm candy. Ok, it still has the sticker mark on it, which is not coming off nicely...my parents always said that a bit of peanut butter helps with that, apparently the oils loosen up the sticker residue?... I should try it. There are worse things than walking around smelling like Reese's Pieces.
I hand washed this silk dress instead of dry cleaning it, so I had to re-set the pleats afterwards. It also wrinkles easily... very annoying but I'll forgive the dress because it's so pretty. Just like I forgive my cats for shedding because they are so pretty...
EDIT: After reading your comments, I must add I handwashed the dress because I wasn't sure it was silk (no tags) at first. After it lost its pleats I figured it out pretty quickly.... The wiser thing would have been to get it drycleaned but I did my best to fix my mistake...

(Yes, this is your work place 'S'.... I hope there are no security cameras? If there are... I waved.)

Sweet Jesus woman, your SHOES! Those are killing! I adore them. And perfect with your bright (and expensive looking!) spring dress. The whole outfit is tres chic, and you have such a talent for combining bags with clothes. This is a talent I sorely lack....

xx

wait... you can handwash silk? I have a silk skirt and a silk shirt that have been languishing in my room since new years because I am too lazy to find a dry cleaner and also a very distrustful person... How do you handwash your silk?

Ps obviously this outfit is beyond gorgeous. Envy envy envy!

Haha! I just got the best mental picture of you shoving people out of the way to get to that purse. It is a fabulous piece and I love the dress, although I would never have the patience to reset the pleats like you did.

I love that dress! Is it the same one you wore to the Valentine's dance with Linda? Red is a good color on you.

those heels are SICK! They're a perfect punch of sexy with the otherwise sweet/conservative dress and trench. And, some serious snaps to you for resetting the pleats on the dress, I would have let it languish in my closet for ages until I was so bored it came down to resetting the pleats or cleaning out the garage to entertain myself.

great outfit. I especially love the shoes and the dress! You have way more patience than I to hand wash that dress and reset the pleats. I would have sent that sucker off to te dry cleaners, but then again I'm way lazy. Especially about laundry.

Those shoes are gorgeous! I love the squared toe and mixed materials. And that dress is all sorts of divine. The color, the pleats... I'd forgive it's quick-wrinkles too!

Oh man, what an awesome thrift find! I wish I could carry around small purses like that, but NYC has turned me into a big bag lady. It's like I'm going on a 3-day trip every time I leave my apartment. Ok, not really, but I always have to have an extra pair of shoes just in case. I was traumatized by breaking a sandal in Union Square then having to commute back to queens barefoot because it was after all the stores had closed. Looking back, I guess I could've taken a cab, but that would've been the price of a new pair of shoes! Anyways, the point is, I envy your cute small bag! Gorgeous dress too :)

You look uber sophisticated! I love the pleated detailing on the dress... and those shoes... are you kidding me with that right now!!?!? AWESOME! They're sooo interesting! :)

Oh. My. Goodness. That whole ensemble is perfection. From the trench to those delicious shoes! My heart literally fluttered when I saw those beautiful shoes!

SHOES: I NEADZ EM.

I thought I would appear more original gushing over your shoes versus the whole outfit, but too many yatches beat me to the punch. But woooowzers. It also should be noted that I really dislike you now, because I have the overwhelming urge to go find their sole (get it?) mate at one of my thrift stores, but I promised the M I wouldn't shop for the rest of the week. Something about paying two rents in june because our new lease and old ones overlap. Silly right?

I never miss wearing heels...until I see some that are amazing- like the ones you're sporting! :) Love, love, love the outfit! The dress is amazing too! I wish I could find things like that in the thrift stores around me...but it's all overalls and hootchy skirts...I need a road trip! :)

That dress is beautiful - the pleats, the color, the fabric, the shape. It looks amazing on you!

Dorky Medievalist said...

Your shoes are making me swoon, as is this whole outfit.

How do you reset pleats? With an iron and your eye? Urgh. And then a bottle of wine? This is a lovely, lovely dress. Wrinkles happen. That dress can take it.

Laura HH said...

This outfit is really pretty. Try using a norwex cloth on the sticky goo.

Katelyn said...

Those shoes are fantastic!

Nana Erin said...

I hardly ever dry clean anything, and the dress still looks absolutely STUNNING!~

Shauna said...

lol - there are cameras :-) Love the shoes - will have to borrow them

Kyla said...

Just another reason to not wash your clothes - resetting pleats sucks ass.

Keira said...

This look is so classic and pretty! And the color of that dress... I mean. Love it.

As for drycleaning, I've had good luck with Dryel and a new Woolite product that you also use in the dryer.

T said...

This outfit it so chic. Love red and khaki together.

GS said...

Oh wow! That trench is siiick. Like the good 'sick' those young kids use nowadays.

That dress is also beautiful, however 'handwashing' and/or 'drycleaning' aren't in my vocabulary (or skills) so I have to admire these materials from afar so as not to destroy them if they happen to come into my possession.

I love the blunt square shoes. The shape is unusual and shocking. I love it. I think I need to explore shapes a bit more. It is really easy to get stuck in the obvious shapes (especially for shoes)
